If you're browsing Pawstie from Canada, you may have noticed prices are already showing in Canadian dollars — that's not a coincidence. We recently rolled out proper market support for Canadian shoppers, so you can shop and check out in CAD without doing any mental currency conversion.

How we know where you're shopping from

Pawstie checks a couple of signals to figure out which market you're in: first, any market you've explicitly chosen yourself during this visit; if you haven't picked one, we fall back to a general read on your location. If neither is available, we default to USD — so if you ever land on the site somewhere prices look off, it's worth a quick check rather than an assumption.

Switching it yourself

Detection isn't perfect — maybe you're traveling, using a VPN, or just want to double check. Look for the country selector in the header (it's in the main navigation area on desktop, and tucked into the mobile menu if you're browsing on your phone). Pick your market there and pricing across the site updates immediately.

What changes, and what doesn't

Switching your market updates the prices you see and the currency you'll check out in — that's it. The products, sizes, and colors available are the same catalog either way; we're a small enough shop that we haven't split inventory by region.

A note on carts

One quirk worth knowing: if you add something to your cart and then switch markets, your existing cart follows the market it started in for that checkout, rather than silently changing currency mid-cart. If prices in your cart look "stuck" in a currency you didn't expect after switching, that's expected — it's tied to when the cart was created, not a bug. Starting a fresh cart after switching will pick up the new market cleanly.

Questions about pricing you see

If a price ever looks inconsistent with what you expected — say, after switching markets mid-session — refreshing the page after the switch usually resolves it, since pricing is tied to the market context for that request. If it still looks off, the country selector is the fastest way to reset it to the market you actually want.

Why it matters

Nobody wants to reach checkout and get surprised by a currency conversion fee stacked on top of the sticker price. Showing CAD pricing up front, and letting the actual transaction happen in CAD, means the price you see while browsing is much closer to the price you'll actually pay — no guessing at exchange rates involved.
